Biography

American baritone Connor Dalton is a recent graduate of the Royal College of Music, London where he completed his Master’s in Performance in Voice Performance.

Connor recently performed the role Belletti in the UK premiere of Libby Larsen’s Barnum’s Bird with the Royal College of Music International Opera Studio, in which he was praised by Opera Today for ‘producing a big, beefy sound with no strain’ and his ‘confident dramatic presentation’. With the RCMIOS, Connor has performed Le Fauteuil (cover) in L’enfant et les sortiliges, Mr Dollar in La bella dormente nel bosco, and Morpheus in Orpheus in the Underworld. Connor originated the role of The Zombie in Darren Sng’s opera My Days as a Zombie on Earth produced in collaboration with Tête à Tête. Other roles at the RCM performed include Joseph De Rocher (Dead Man Walking), Marcello (La Bohème), Count Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) in scenes.

Connor is a former Young Artist with Vienna Summer Music Festival, where he created the role of Knight in the world premiere of Paul Richard’s The Loathly Lady. As a Young Artist with Druid City Opera, Connor appeared as Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) and Florian (Princess Ida) in scenes.

A Mars Hill University alumnus, Connor graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. During his studies, he was a member of the Southern Appalachian Chamber Singers and Mars Hill University Chamber Singers. At MHU he appeared in scenes as Marcello (La Bohème), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), and Count Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro). Following his undergraduate studies, Connor was awarded the Donna N. Robertson Award by his alma mater for his service to the arts and dedication to vocal studies. He has participated in masterclasses with Tim Evans-Jones, Thomas Hall, Jennifer Rowley, Arlene Shrut, and Bradley Williard.

Equally comfortable with song repertoire as with opera, Connor has performed recitals with repertoire including Wolfgang Rihm’s Neue Alexanderlieder and Wölfli-Liederbuch, Songs of Travel (Vaughan Williams), Blue Mountain Ballads (Bowles). On the concert stage, Connor has performed the baritone solos in Faure’s Requiem, Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols, and Brahms’ Neue Liebeslieder.
